SGS Delivers ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Awareness Course for the Bureau of Animal Industry
SGS was pleased to conduct ISO/IEC 17020:2012 Awareness Course for the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI). The two-day training, held on October 1-2, 2015, consisted of lecture, examination, presentation of case studies, and workshop. A hands-on training, held at BAI Animal Products Development Center in Marulas, Valenzuela City, was also part of the course.
The awareness course enabled the inspectors of BAI to compare the current system of their customers vis-avis the standard requirements. It further gave them knowledge on the application of the standard into their inspection activities.
ISO/IEC 17020:2012 is the Standard for Conformity Assessment-Requirements for the Operation of Various Types of Bodies Performing Inspection. It was created to promote confidence in bodies performing inspection. This standard presents general requirements that inspection bodies should comply with in order for their services to be accepted by clients and by supervisory authorities.
BAI units carry out assessments on animal farms, feed mills, and similar establishments to provide information about their conformity with government regulations and standards. The general requirements with which these establishments should comply are harmonized in ISO/IEC 17020:2012.
