DENR Becomes First ISO 14001:2015 Certified Public Agency in the Philippines
On February 10, 2016, the central office of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Quezon City, Philippines was awarded with ISO 14001:2015 EMS certification, making DENR Central the first public agency in the country to be certified under the new version of ISO's environmental management system standard.
DENR Secretary Ramon J.P. Paje, together with key DENR officials, received the ISO certification from Ariel Miranda, Managing Director of SGS in the Philippines, during the second day of the three-day First Philippines Environment Summit in Pasay City.
“This milestone is consistent with our mandate on sustainable development and environmental governance, and demonstrates the commitment of each employee of the DENR to be a role model in environmental management,” Paje said.
Miranda, in his speech during the awarding ceremony, stated that, “The Department’s certification represents its ability to manage environmental responsibilities in a systematic manner that contributes to sustainability.”
