SGS Philippines, Inc. continues to expand its food laboratory testing capabilities as recent trends in the food industry indicate that people are getting more conscious about what they consume and its potential effect in their health.

To support the need for healthy food, SGS has developed two new testing capabilities:

  • Monounsaturated Fatty Acid (MUFA) Analysis
  • Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid (PUFA) Analysis

Both analyses use Gas Chromatography equipment to ensure more accurate and precise results as compared to manual computation.

MUFA and PUFA are known as the good fats which lower the bad cholesterol levels in the body while maintaining or increasing the level of good cholesterol. In most cases, MUFA and PUFA analyses are part of nutritional analysis and are often reflected on the nutrition facts panel of various food products to support claims related to the fat content of the product.
