In partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), SGS Philippines commenced its first clean-up under the Adopt-an-Estero program.

 

The group, joined by volunteers from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Metro Manila Develoipment Authority (MMDA), and Barangay San Lorenzo Environment Division of Makati covering the downstream of the Makati Diversion channel situated along Chino Roces Avenue,

 “Each one of us is responsible to clean and protect our environment,” said Lisa Magtagnob, Business Director for SGS Environment, Health and Safety department.

 

Earlier this year, SGS Philippines, represented by Managing Director, Ariel Miranda, formally entered into the agreement and became one of the donor-partners who will work alongside DENR to clean up esteros and waterways that empty into the Manila Bay.

“DENR cannot do everything. We need you as partners,” emphasized by DENR Regional Director of Environment Vizminda Osorio.

SGS’ responsibilitIes includes assisting in the information and education campaigns and community mobilization activities of DENR and Makati City Government to foster harmonious relations with and solicit the community participation, cooperation, and support of the program.
