As part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) bid to attain ISO 9001:2015 Certification, the top management attended the ISO 31000 Risk Management Course conducted by SGS Academy, Makati City.

Attendees last December 10, 2019 were composed of BOC’s top management who led by Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, together with Deputy Commissioner Donato B. San Juan (IAG), Deputy Commissioner Raniel T. Ramiro (IG), Deputy Commissioner Teddy S. Raval (EG) and Assistant Commissioner Vincent Philip C. Maronilla (PCAG). The group were also joined by Collectors from the various collection districts of the Bureau.

ISO 31000 Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines is a risk management standard intended to assist large and small private and public organizations to effectively manage risks associated with their operations. Effective risk management strategies can be applied to risks with both potentially positive and negative impacts on the business.

The training aimed to provide top management identify opportunities in order to improve incident management, minimize losses and improve organizational learning and resilience. The attendees were also given activities workshops to further improve their knowledge with regard to risk identification, analysis and evaluation.

Other than top management trainings courses, various BOC personnel have also undergone similar training to further supplement the Bureau’s move to improve its policies and procedures. The BOC remains optimistic that the series of training it implemented would result to better processes and policies, that would positively impact trade facilitation and revenue collection in the Philippines.
