PALexpress, Philippine Society for Quality conducts ‘Ugnayan’
Air Philippines Corporation, also known as PAL express together with the Philippine Society for Quality (PSQ) successfully conducted the very first ‘Ugnayan’ for 2020 last January 23.
‘Ugnayan’, is a benchmarking activity where the best Safety and Quality practices by top performing businesses are defined, explained and observed by PSQ members from different industry members. This, in turn, becomes the basis for any improvement they may want to implement in their respective companies.
PAL express President Bonifacio U. Sam, also a Quality Auditor explained how highly regulated the airline industry is. He added that they regularly conduct internal safety and quality audits on top of the regulatory audits. He furthered that Safety and Quality were also essential in catapulting PAL express into its current status.
Aside from being certified as ISO 9001:2015 by SGS Philippines, PAL express has also successfully renewed its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), and was recently rated a 4-STAR Airline by SKYTRAX, an international air transport rating organization based in London.
The company’s rich history, as well as the different challenges raised by regulatory bodies was explained by subject matter experts from PAL express Safety Department.
Safety in flight and cabin training were also discussed to further explain how PAL express maintains its international certifications. State-of-the-art flight simulator for Airbus and the virtual reality for cabin crew training meanwhile were also made available for the experiential learning of the PSQ delegates.
