SGS Philippines Inc Visayas Conducted Its First Food Safety Webinar with DTI Bohol MSMEs
As Department of Trade and Industry – Bohol help MSMEs to practice appropriate food safety and hygiene within their premises, a whole day webinar was conducted last October 30 in partnership with SGS Philippines - Food sector using the Microsoft Teams platform.
“We are not sure of how these (meals) are prepared in their kitchens. Imagine the harm that it will do to us if our food processors are not clean enough, not ensuring, not practicing food safety and hygiene. Pandemic or not, there’s a Covid or none, we have to be very careful in preparing and handling of food.” Shared by the DTI Bohol Provincial Director Marisol Laxa- Balistoy who commenced the webinar. Ms. Ma. Teresa “Baby” Tay hosted the webinar and she first introduced Ms. Ellen Mae Bautista, SGS Regional Sales Supervisor – Food VisMin, the resource speaker for the first topic which is Introduction to Food Safety and Microbial Hazards. Ms. Ellen expressed her gratitude in behalf of SGS Philippines for being chosen to conduct the training and for the opportunity to share information to MSMEs of DTI Bohol regarding food safety.
The Introduction to Food Safety Level 1 is a 10-module training for MSMEs to help them protect their businesses through ensuring that the food they are selling are safe to consume and to avoid food poisoning that can lead to a bad publicity in social media. People nowadays are becoming more sensitive in terms of health and safety due to ongoing pandemic that’s why in order to earn the trust and loyalty of consumers, food manufacturers should double their efforts to make sure that proper hygiene and safe food handling are being practiced inside the premises that will also lead to the success of the business.
